This weekend my girlfriend and I bought some lava rock boulders and made them into smaller pieces to build this up. My local fish store sells small pieces for $3.50 a pound. The boulders were purchased at a nice $.25 a pound. What I saved in money I made up in work. This stuff was not easy to break! After using a carbide drill, hammer and chisel, and a few hours of sweat and some blood, we finally got some nice pieces and even made some with holes in them! This stuff was a lot more dense than your typical fish rock. Be prepared to use some brute strength if you want to attempt. I am quite happy with how it turned out!
