Questions about Discus care

My father is wanting to set up a discus tank. His water is off the same well water system as mine so his pH is 8.2-8.4. Kh is 179ppm. Gh is 179ppm. I recently read an article of an aquarist who has been keeping....farm raised not wild caught.... discus for several years in a pH of 8.0 with 200 ppm Kh and 161 ppm Gh. My question is...in your opinions....would it be safe to keep farm raised discus in my father's tap water given the hardness and pH levels or will he have to worry about disease and death from it.

It's what I do.. not quite that liquid rocky but definitely not "standard" discus water. I got mine from a local breeder and grew them out from very small size. I'd say they're doing ok..

I'll test it when I get home Tuesday. I only test TDs these days. 300-400 on average.
