I've got a pair of Heros sp. Curare and I'm not sure what to make of this behaviour. One has been in this tank a while and the other one moved in from my girlfriends house a couple days ago. Her fish is probably the biggest wuss I've ever seen, as a side note. Even at her house she never left her area of the tank. I was going to bring her back home because her fins are a bit tattered and my male has been chasing her a bit, but after watching them today I think he may be doing so because he wants to breed. He spends a lot of time with her just hanging out, but then he charges at her in her corner and it looks like he's trying to lock lips because he nibbles at her face but she turns upward so they never lock. After that he just sits there watching her for a while before trying again. I've also noticed that when she is out, sometimes instead of chasing her he will stay still and his stress bars totally disappear making his body a solid color. She even spent a brief time in his territory with him on his side of the tank and she wasn't chased. Sorry for the length of the post I just wanted to get all the details out. What do you make of this? Is he still trying to show dominance or trying to breed? It seems a little too inconsistent to me to be about dominance as he spends a lot of time near her but not attacking. Any thoughts are appreciated!1474327559388.jpg
