sexing jewel cichlid

So my cons are at it again, been frisky and feisty lately.. my jewel has responded with this deep red I've never seen on it before in throat/mouth area. Can you tell if jewel male or female yet? Thanks!

From what I can see of the fins it kinda looks male, but it's hard to tell. The best way to be sure is to vent them.
