What kind of cichlid? Look up malawi bloat. Can you get pics? What size tank, tankmates and water parameters?

If it is bloat: treat with jungle parasite clear according to the directions and treat 2-3 doses, slowly add epsom salt @ the rate of 1tbsp per 5 gallons. While treating w parasite clear be sure to keep your lights and uv off and dont feed the whole time. When you do feed again, feed blanched, deshelled peas. I went ahead and posted this bc i am about to board a plane.

Actually pretty easy. Just requires a couple of water changes along the way. Once they show bloat it is often too late to save them ime. What kind of cichlids do you have? What so you feed them? Please answer all my questions from this post and last so i can better assist you. I have dealt w bloat a couple times and have researched it alot.

Heard a silly rumor worth trying, Crush up a few peas and let the fish eat them. Aparently that helps. Malawi bloat basically happens when you feed them too much protein. Try changing their food.
