I have a 4" dragon blood peacock that started a week or so ago hiding most of the day. Won't eat and seems to b breathing a bit heavy. All other fish are great. He does not appear to have any signs of bacteria, fungus, etc. No fins are torn and appears to b left alone. Water quality is very good and I even did a water change. I can't figure it out. Is this a phase or is he sick? Of what?

Sounds like a case of Malawi bloat. 1st try dosing with epsom salts (I think there is an article in the library) to try and clear out his intestines.

Any chance of a pic?

Bloat is an excellent suggestion, thank you! I've read about it but never had a fish with it. He doesn't look very bloated but with a try. I'll read up on treatment.

He definitely isn't holding. I believe it's male, plus his mouth is open often, breathing a bit heavy.

I'll try to attach a pic. Thank you again!!
