Hi there,
What do you think is the smallest tank I'd be able to keep an oscar in happily for it's whole life? TIA, Wolf :D

I would say at least a 65 Gallon long, not the standard 65 gallon.

I think is 18"W 48"L and 20"H.

I dont think 50 or a 55 gallon tank would make him happy for life.

I would say at least a 18" wide and 48" long tank.

Since Oscar can grow to 12"+

Wolf,

55 might be on the small side, but I have seen it done many a time. IMO, a 75 would be the more ideal tank since it is 18" wide.

One caution is that Oscars are a great fish, but a lot of people can loose interest as they grow. They do eat a lot and are somewhat messy.

HTH,

50-55 absolute smallest, but IMHO your fish will suffer.
I second the 75gal as the realistic minimum for a adult O's home.
