There is two white spots of something on my lace rock in the tank I am cycling. The rocks have been in for a little over a week now. I couldn't get a good shot of the texture of it, but it looks like a cross between a cobweb and a cocoon. They also have a little spot of bubbles on them. Being this is my first tank with this type of rock and sand/coral substrates, I'm not sure if this is normal or not? Should I leave it there and let it do it's thing or take the rock out and clean it off? I'm such a newb!

Just leave it be and dont worry about it. Its probably just some type of algae. Or that stuff that grows like on driftwood and some rocks during the cycles. Anyhow if something does grow out of it like a water spider or snails the cichlids will kill it.

Okay, good. Haha snails I won't mind but water spiders? Not so much! :) glad to hear it's probably nothing. I'll keep an eye on it. Thanks!
