I'm hoping to attempt a south American tank with an emphasis on cichlids. It's a 40 breeder (45 gallon) and currently it is lightly planted with a large amount of driftwood. Centerpiece will be a green Severum and it currently has 7 serpae tetras and 8 spotted cory catfish. Wondering on what other fish would cohabit well. Pics will come after work!

I wouldn't recommend adding any other cichlids. A green severum is going to push the limits of a 40 eventually. If your heart isn't completely set on the sev, you could do a couple pairs or trios of dwarfs or a festivum/angel/keyhole type with a pair or trio of dwarves. JMO

My heart is set, I own one already. Got her as a baby and she's growing up. Very peaceful so far, doesn't harass any other fish. She was kept with Bolivian rams when she was smaller and got along well with them. Hopefully since she's a female she won't break 10 inches.
