I am now thinking Dems and labs.Having studied several pictures of Demasoni its not uncommon to get lighter ones.

Well then if you want accurate IDs on a fish post close up pictures from the start not full tank shots that you can barely make out the fish. Allot of Africans look very similar from a distance and its the close up details that help with a positive ID.

Also if I was starting a "breeding project" I'd be darn sure I could positively ID the fish being purchased myself before I brought them home. If you're serious about breeding those fish they should be in species only tanks to prevent hybridization.
