I just saw some beautiful gold and blue rams in a fish store. They have been there a few days and the pH is 7.8 (they checked it for me at the store). My pH is high like that. Is it a good idea to try them? They cost $8.99 each. These fish are full grown. I lost some smaller rams that I tried a week or two ago but I think it was a bad batch as the lfs gave me a credit on all the fish and they said they had lost a bunch of them too.
 
Go for it if all the inhabitants of the tank look like they're happy and healthy. JMO
 
Keep in mind that Rams have a somewhat short life span. 1 - 1 1/2 years... If these are full grown, you may be getting some old fish,
