Water hardness

If the water coming out of my tap is already hard enough for cichlids then do I need to add anything to the water other than prime?

Welcome to AA,

No you don't need anything else. Everyone seems to think they need buffers and rift lake cichlid salts which is absurd, these are store bought and tank bred fish that are multiple generations removed from wild caught fish plucked out of Lake Malawi.

Awesome. Yea idk I use to live in a place with softer water where I added buffers and stuff but since my ph coming out of the tap is about 7.5 and hardness is about 12-14 then I figured I would be alright. Thanks for the help
