So I noticed these little balls on this rock for a few days and thn they were gone over night. What
Are they?

Unfertilized eggs, the female ate them.

How do you prevent the female from eating them????

The female can lay eggs without the male, but they aren't viable which is why the female eats them. There needs to be a male to fertilize them. She will lay eggs whenever she's gravid.

Even if you get a male, there's no guarantee they will spawn together and he will fertilize the eggs.
