Why are my fish scared?

I'm in the process of clearing my 4ft Malawi tank of fish I don't want so I can try other types. I bought a 2ft tank in order to hold the fish till I can find a suitable buyer. I know the tank is small but so are the Malawi I'm selling. Problem is the fish in the 2ft tank seem to be scared. They spend all there time hiding and I cannot understand why. At first I thought they d been spooked when I took them out of the big tank but its now been a week and a half. Surely they should have got over it now.

does it have cover or is the tank bare? Add some floating plants or float plastic plants on the surface. add some hides your could even add scrubbed flower pots for hides.

how would you feel being plucked from your house and dumped somewhere else?
