hi all I am new to aquariums but do a lot of diving and would like to bring this into my home I was thinking of a 10 galon display tank with a 20 galon sump 30 galon total have heard that small tanks are finiky but would a setup like this with such a large sump in relation to the display tank help with this is this a resonable size for a beginer?

Added water volume is a good thing. But ..... You`ll fill that 10 up before you know it and wish you had gone bigger. If it was me I would use the twenty and have the ten as a sump. At least it will take a while longer to fill it up.

i run a 20g reef now and i use NO sump, actually ran the tank for 2 months without a filter, just changed the water every 2 weeks and did my daily top offs and saw some beautiful results. Now i run a 50g filter on it for water flow. So you need no sump actually
