yeah, i think i might just do that. It wont even cost me that much, maybe 50 bucks at the most. but, i just dont know how much a test kit would be. HMM

Jason, I think you should definiltey prove them wrong. Nano tanks are not impossible, and since you understand they are a little more difficult I think you are just fine.
That sand will work fine, as will the baserock you got with your 50 gallon. The only concern I'd have is if the 50 gal was a fw tank (I dunno?) I don't think I'd use the rock, or email the lady and ask her if she ever used copper meds in the tank.
Instant Ocean salt is just fine.
As far as cycling, I think there is an article in the articles section here at AA about cycling. Anyways, basically all you need is either uncured liverock or a raw shrimp, or both. Drop it in and let it rot.
