Hi all. I had an attempt some time ago at a nano reef aquarium but after some months it all went wrong so I decided to take it apart.
I now would like to try again. I have the tank which measures 14 x 14 x 18 inches high.
After reading a number of topics on here, I want to try and make a DIY multi chamber filter built into the rear of the tank. In here I will house the heater, filter material and pump.
There are a few points I am unsure of as detailed below and would welcome any advice.
1. What output of pump would I require.
2. What filter media would I be best to use.
3. Should I install a mini protein skimmer within the filter.
4. What lighting will I need. Seen cheap led clip on ones on eBay, are these any good?
5. Do I need a separate wavemaker pump?
6. Am I best putting living sand on the bottom or putting nothing on the bottom?
Look forward to hearing your thoughts.
