Started a 3 gallon pico about 3 months ago. This is the beginning stages of my project. Standard 9watt 50/50, 25 watt heater and stock 40 gph filter.

Sand is not live, but borrowed about a gallon of water from a friend who has an established tank. Also, bought about 8 pounds of live rock.

What are your plans for stocking? You could do a zoa garden, along with shrooms, cool inverts, xenia, gsp, etc.

Are you planning in upgrading lights, filter, etc?

I am about 3 months in...will post my most recent pictures. Does that hammer coral you have ever give you problems? ie stinging other corals...I've read that they can extend up to six inches out

Decided to upgrade the heater to a 50 watt because the small automatic 25 watt couldn't keep up with the precise temperature I needed for a reef tank.

Added some zoas from the LFS...this is right after they acclimated so they don't look to happy right now.

Got my bonus check and decided it was time to take this little guy to a whole other level. Bought the Kessil A150 ocean blue with a gooseneck (it's hanging cause I was waiting on the gooseneck in the mail).

Stocked up on green hammer coral, two types of zoas and green birdsnest.

The zoas from the above picture are way more happier under this A150. I strongly recommend this light. I keep this tank on my desk and the shimmer off it is incredible.

I have the 150 ocean blue over my 20. It's a fantastic light. That birdsnest is gonna take over that tank in a couple months :). How high above the tank do you have your kessil?

Good catch, didn't even see the clown. I hope you have a larger tank you can move him to now.

Nice zoas! Tank looks great with the kessil - as I'm sure you know you can keep anything that requires light in this tank :).

And about the hammer, no, it hasn't been a problem at all. It's never stung anything, but grows like a weed. So far it's been pretty peaceful, partly because I placed it away from most other softies.

Really? Do you think it would sting my zoas or sps?

Yeah, in your tank the hammer definitely looks a safe distance from everything else.

Btw, I assume the clown was rehomed? Those maroons get pretty big!

It's not a maroon an ocellaris clown, but no it hasn't been moved. I got it about half the size and plan on moving it next time I go back to the store.

Thanks! Think I'm going to build a 10 gallon in the coming weeks.
