I am planning my 20 gallon and I was wondering how often do you see your ywg? And pistol shrimp?

See them everyday!!  they are very social! At first I never saw them, but after a month they were out all the time! Mine move spots every few days!

I have never had a firefish, so I can't really tell you if ones better or more interesting than the other. Firefish do jump so you need a lid on your tank, but are cheaper than the pistol goby pair! It's all up to you!

Why can't you get both? Fire fish is usually in the top surface and middle of the water. The pair are always on the ground

Just don't take some thing that has diatoms or bacteria my friend did that it crashed his tank
