There are lots of local reef groups, just google around.
More importantly, how do you start off if you don't have anything to trade? I doubt a 6-pack and a pizza are a fair trade for some corals

I found a forum called "San Diego reef forums", there's always coral for sale!  look online and see what you can find!

If you havent already, really look for good local reefers to buy and trade corals with. Much cheaper than stores. I got all the new zoas and palys for 40$.

That's a sweet lookin paly, kind of looks like a reef junkie rainbow. Gotta love the killer freebie's!!! You should get some raptors rainbows to go with those.

Going to MAX today (Marine Aquarium eXpo) today. It's about 2 hours from my house so my girlfriend and I are heading there now. I will try to get some pics and post some for you guys! I'm looking for a nice coral as well!  have a good day everyone!

If they had one of these in maryland I'd definately go...and spend WAY too much $$$  but they don't......

This is my moms 20 gal upgrade(1week in).....I'm happy with it(so's she..for now..  )
Has mushrooms,paly,zoas,leather,welly?,ricordia,"cats" eye,snowflake polyp,green singularia,"hair" coral,and an unknown soft coral we call " the green slimer" and a frag of favia.....
Fish: yasha goby red striped hi fin goby black leopard wrasse spiny blenny and a peppermint shrimp..cuc crew is tux urchin astrea snails and the shrimp.. Letting setup mature some before adding mini carpet nem(also light upgrade,eismann bulbs..)

Picked up a toadstool, 50 Polyps of button zoas, and a big birdsnest frag for 50$. Not to bad!  and I got free chemipure and a Ton of fish food!
