Hey guys I'm loving the saltwater tank and the live rock!
Every time I look in the tank something new has shown up on the rock
Anyways I tried making my own protein skimmer today and it was actually working well but I need to get a suction cup to hold it in place
But here is the tank!
Tell me how I'm doin

looks good. you should maybe consider breaking the rocks up a little bit to give you more options for scaping. what are the plans for it?

Well I plan in getting some more pieces of live rock for it anyways poss 1 clown or some small inverts and a goby
Prolly going to get some coral going too

Looks good what kind of lights are you running for it?

I'm fairly new to this as well however your sandbed looks REALLY DEEP! They do look like big chunks though. Maybe try some smaller pieces of rock so can create cave and stuff. Have a look through some pics and such before you stark to add a lot of stock. I'm about a month in and have rescaped about 10 times. It's easier to do without stock and considerations where you're moving stuff to. Lets see some pics of your skimmer??? Stick with it and have fun!

here is a pic of a small scape i had before. it was a 15 gal tank. this was very shortly after i set it up. small rocks can give the illusion of a larger tank as well. what size is yours? we will be better able to help you if we know some specs on it. filtration, water movement, lights.... etc

You've got to be joking... That's really a 15 gallon? It looks more like a 55.

I have created caves?
And my substrate (crushed coral) is not even 1.5" deep

You don't want a lot of dead space under the rocks so little rocks holding up big rocks helps with that. Also think water flow through the rocks from all sides including the back. Lots of caves, swim throughs and bridges look cool and provide water flow. And don't forget room to let your cleaner magnet through. There is a nano magnet at BRS that is really skinny on the wet side . Good luck!

So just a update I'm running an aqua clear 20 with a bag of bio clear, purigen by seachem, and 4 bio balls provided by the owner of aqua Tera from his sumps
I added another lbs of live rock
2 ocellaris clown fish Amphiprion ocellaris
1 Condylactis gigantea
1 tiger pistol shrimp Alpheus bellulus
I have also noticed some small star fish on the new live rock

Hi,

I was concerned to see an anemone in your nano tank - is this not a new tank? It is v difficult to keep anemone in a nano tank besides that they should only be put in tanks which have been stable for months - years. Have you enough lighting? I had to get rid of my anemone. Couldn't get enough light in my 12 gallon tank without pushing up temp of water and in retrospect tank just way too small.
In my nano 1inch of crushed coral was too deep and I had nitrate probs. I agree I think over time you might run into probs with a bed that deep?
Just a few thoughts, not necessarily gospel though!
