Hey just picked up this gorgonian. Can somebody help me with a few questions. Does it need to be fed?, the LFS said no but I've read conflicting stuff. Also I have it with medium light and moderate flow, is that good?, any thing I should know about it?, predators, weaknesses, etc....

Well, there are photosynthetic gorgonians that come out of the caribbean. They just recently came back into the market. The polyps hold some of the answers on if it is photosynthetic or not I believe, so a closer picture would help.

Thanks for the response

Anybody know if it's photosynthetic or I need to feed it?, it's polyps all seemed closed this morning before lights came on and now they r open, so I'm assuming it derives most of its energy from the light..

Any answers would be much appreciated.

Here is a closer pic

If that is what I think it is, being briarium, then yes it is photosynthetic and quite hardy.

Thanks, hopefully it's hardy, looks good in tank, all polyps open and it's bouncing around with current.

Yes, it's photosynthetic, and doesn't need to be fed. It will need some decent flow though.

The branches are flowing and bouncing all over the place, I'm assuming that should be good?, thanks for the help
