I have a 20 gal high tank.

i got a bad diatom bloom i know is expected, new tank.
green algae taking over too, covering all my LR.
TDS is 800 WOW !!!!!!! yea i used tap water, i didn't have an RODI unit yet.

i just made 20Gal of RODI water at 0 TDS, salt was added a day ago and mixing. i was going to do a 100% water change to make sure my water column is good. then i will let the tank cycle.

am i on the right track?

the only thing in my tank is LR and LS and 5 turbo snails, which i will store in a spare tank till i do the full water change.

when i drain the water, should i do anything to the LR? or should i just fill the tank with the new RODI water? all my purple LR were covered in a thick carpet of green and brown. i figure a toothbrush while draining will suck up all the floating debris and take out the bad water.

did full water change, all is well with the world.
snails are loving it too. soon it will be time for fish and corals.

no point in testing TDS in tank.
just as long as the water going into the tank reads 0.
