Need help!! Water is green!

Alright this isn't my tank it's my buddies.. But the tank is 4 months old and it slowly started to turn to green water 1 month ago.. He has been doing weekly water changes and all levels are normal.. Only livestock are a few snails and hermits, live sand and lr.. I've never come across this with my 2 tanks so I'm not sure what to do.. Any advice is welcomed !

green water outbreak. Got a UV sterilizer lying around? It will cure this in just a few days. Water changes usually just fuel green water. You could black out the tank for a while too...

Awesome !! Thanks for the help Mr.X!! How long should we try the blackout for before spending $ on the UV?
