Hey all, I have 12 gal with a 50w marineland heater and ac50. So far I have 3 lbs of live rock, 10 lbs dead haitian rock, 2" of pfs and added 2 small pieces of dead haitian rock in the ac50. Hopefully by next week I can add the chaeto in the ac50.
So I started the fishless cycle on 10/31/11. On 11/3/11 I decided to add a fresh dead shrimp to speed up the process.
So here is where I need the help, My ammonia started to drop yesterday and my nitrites have been off the chart for days.
Am I missing anything?
Do I need to do a water change to bring my nitrites down?
Do I need to redose ammo to bring it back up to 4?
My water parameters have been the following.
11/3/11 - added the shrimp a couple of hrs before testing
Ammo: 4
Nitrite: off chart

Temp: 80
11/4/11

11/5/11 - got a foul smell from my tank so I replaced the shrimp with a fresh dead shrimp.
