Par38 lamp for 5.5 gallon reef?

I'm trying to upgrade my lighting setup for my 5.5 gallon reef aquarium in order to promote more rapid coral growth. I was curious if a par38 lamp would be ok for such a small tank, or if there are some other options I should look into. Note that the dimensions of the tank are 16"x10"x8"
