I have the same one you do. I think they are good quality. I also have the next size down (350 I think). It is smaller and 2 of them would give you more flow. Also the next size up (750 i think) is the same size as the 550. I think they are great for the price, only compliant it they don't aim very far away from straight out.

Another question. What's the best veggies to put into the refugium? I already have rubble rock with tons of Coraline on it. I'm going to take a tooth brush and scrub the Coraline into the refugium and have it blast the spores into the display tank.

I have chaeto, I think that is what most people use. It is cheap, grows fast and won't go sexual and release nutrients.

Refugium light on the 15g refugium.

Question? I read about people reversing light times between the refugium light and the DT light. I'm changing my light schedule because I would like to have darkness in my reef. Would this be good?

Schedule:

6am: Blue ON, White OFF, Refugium light (RL) OFF

7am: Blue & White ON, RL OFF

7am-6pm: Blue & White ON, RL OFF

6pm-10pm: Blue ON, White OFF, RL OFF

10pm-6am: Blue & White OFF, RL ON

Your refugium light looks great!
That's too much light on that schedule. You will be fighting algae at some point, imo.
This is my light schedule. Keep in mind I do not have a refugium.
8:00am, blue on.
9:00am, blue and white on.
5:00pm, white off.
6:00pm, blue off.
I believe 8 to 10 hrs of light is what is recommended.

Wait you have complete darkness from 6pm to 8am? Do you have corals in your tank?

How long is daylight in the tropics?

How much light does your coral need to be happy?

Thank you! And it did help but didn't because the wattage part I dont know about because I have the LEDs and LEDs are different than fluorescent, MH or t5s.

Those DIY lights you have are putting plenty of light in your tank, even at 50%. I wouldn't worry about keeping just about anything you want in there.

Okay! And I can always put it slightly up like 60% if I need more light!
