Rimless or rimmed tanks?

So im looking into either a rimless half moon or cube, if not that a 20 high standard tank for a nano reef, If you guys dont mind i have a couple questions cuz i feel kinda stuck. I have an aquaclear 70 handy that i would use for the 20h tank but would it hang on a rimless or are they too thin? And i also have an AI SOL nano but the mounting arm doesnt fit on a standard rimmed tank only rimless, Hanging isnt an option at my house but can the rim on a 20h be cut slightly to fit the mounting arm? If not am i most likely gunna need a new filter that would fit a rimless?
What so you guys think? Im not looking for anything beyond 24in in length tank wise.
