I can’t even give it away!

But I absolutely hate to toss it into the dumpster without trying…

What risk is there in plugging it in, just to test it? Should I attach intake and output hoses and dunk the ends in a 5g bucket of water and let it run for 5-15 minutes?

pull the casing off first to inspect electrical internals as they most likely are toast
always be safe with used old equipment . if everything checks out put casing back on then try a fast dry run
than try the bucket just be sure not to be holding it it could throw stray current .
looks almost like the one I had back in the 70's hardest part with them is to keep them primed
