I just bought a compact fluorescent fixture. It came with a 55 watt GE 9325k bulb, and I also bought a 55 watt 50/50 (10000k and Actinic blue) Coralife bulb.

There's obviously a difference in appearance, but is there any nutritional/health difference?

Also, would you keep the light on about 12 hours per day, like a regular bulb?

Live rock, live sand, fish (tang, flame angel, basslets), shrimp, algae critters, soft corals (mushrooms, polyps, leathers, dusters).

Thanks!

A color specitrum analisis is what would be best as well as a PAR test to see if there was a difference in the overall intensity of the bulbs. Depending where the GE bulb peaked as far as its color specitrum it could be a contributor to undesirable algae. Our corals are more sensitive to specific spectrums of light and having large peaks in the undesirable range will do little benifit for them.

Yes run the lights 12 hours on and 12 hours off just like the natural sun at the tropics.
