actinic lighting question

Do those of you who have metal halides run your actinics while the halides are on or do you run them like I do befor and after the metal halides...

A lot of people run them with their daylights as well as before & after........ So if your MH's are on for, say, 7 hours, then the actinics would run 8 or 9..... either a half hour or hour before & after.
