Air Pump Necessary?

I plan on using an Eheim Wet/Dry filter. Is an air pump necessary? If so suggestions on brand, size, etc. would be appreciated.

A air pump is not nessasary as long as you have powerheads to move the water to allow aireation.

Got any recommendations for Powerheads for a 72g tank, with a W/D filter.

Also, I will be having mostly fish, with a few inverts.
