Airlift to move water

Has anyone else ever used an airlift to move water between tanks? I came up with an idea that would allow moving water between tanks (i.e. sump and tank) at a very small rate. I want a very low flow in a fairly shallow water level without the turbulence that a powerhead could create.
TIA for any help!
