AquaClear MicroBubbles

I have a HOB Aquaclear filter that is a few years old now for my 30G reef tank. It has been well maintained, but is now producing annoying Micro-bubbles.

It was suggested that I replace the entire filter, but I'd prefer to replace the part that is causing the air to get in since each part is available to purchase separetly.

I believe the impeller cover could be allowing air in because of the small dents around the intake tube.

But it may also be the motor or just the perpellar.

Any clue on what is most likely to be the exact cause? Surely the filter will be good as new if I replace all three parts!

If it is splashing then put a sponge or even panty hose on the return.

Any chance there is a crack in the intake tube?

+1 most common reason. That or the intake isnt fitted together properly.
