Just installed it outside my sump, and have PVC pipe on the returns going back into the sump.. but im getting bubbles now due to the return pipe going into the sump, and the main pump is brining bubbles into the tank. Will this go away, and is it bad?[/quote]

The skimmer will produce micro bubbles for a few days until it breaks in, once it does, the only bubbles might be from the water dropping into the sump. This can be remedied by having it drop onto a sponge rather than free fall into the water.

A baffle is a partial "wall" in the sump that forces the water either under it or over it - usually two or more baffles form a combination to force the water under/over/under the "walls" or dams. This gives the bubbles a chance to rise to the surface as the water travels under the first baffle. It goes over the second baffle and under the third one. This usually eliminates all but the most stubborn microbubbles. Baffles are built into commercial wet/dry's and most sumps.
