Best wat to clear up (DIATOM) brown algae on sand and rock?

my tank has finished cycling and has brown algae all over the sand and rock...I run my lights from 11-8 and have a powerquad 96 watt PC...TIA for any info

diatom blooms are common. What is your substrate? Silicas can add to the initial problem

brown algae is usually cuz of not enought lightning. how long do u keep ur lights on?

i have the same problem but i purchase about 12 small blue legs hermit crabs and it help clean up my brown alg. problem. in a couple of weeks

I have no cleanup crew? what should I get? i run my lights for about 9 hours a day

As mentioned, blue legged dwarf hermits are good.. if you have algae on the glass then get some snails too.

watch out when u mix hermits and snails hermit might attack them

I got that algae bad after my tank cycled. It cleared up all by itself. I didnt believe it would but it did. Man, is it ugly or what?
