Blue Legged Hermit crab having way to much fun

One of my blue legged hermit crabs keeps changing his shell. First it was a long one that was to big for him. Then he took over a old snail shell. Now he's moved on to another shell. He picked the one I liked the most this time. Pretty cool to see him roaming around with such a pretty shell. I think it's to big for him but I guess he knows best he seems a little unbalanced.

do you have to place shells in there for him?

I just put a few different sizes at the bottom of my tank and he found them.

I have had the same happen. I have one crab that is in 1 1/2" wide shell. The hermit is a huge sucker himself though. I thought they were supposed to be small. He likes to fight a slightly smaller crab and just mess with the shell then goes back to his own shell again. I guess he is just a harasser cause there are plenty of extra shells of all sizes in the tank.
