Brittle worm spewing pink stuff

Ok, our sons tank has A LOT of brittle worms in it, I noticed a few mins ago one that was rather plump and very pink. Didn't think anything of it, they sit around in his tank in the open all the time, I then decided to move the GSP I just received from the Logical reef for better lighting up high and after I did that the worm moved and spewed pink gunk in the water, it's all over the rocks right now. The barnacle blenny started to breath kind of weird being it was shot right near him. He's fine now, but I'm wondering if it's something that happens or where I can read up on it more, I'm worried the stuff is toxic, my son would freak if his fish dies.
