Brown algae is taking over our tank!

I've read that lack of light actually increases brown algae growth, unlike other algae. Is this true?

We have a scooter blenny and a lawnmower blenny, who scoot around our tank non-stop, nibbling as they go. Are they supposed to be effective brown algae eaters?

Any suggestions as to how to get rid of this problem would be most appreciated!

I can't stand a dirty looking tank! In my opinion, a beautiful tank is a clean tank.

New tanks usually go through various algae blooms. You're blennies will help some moreso the rest of your cleanup crew will help.

Sounds like you might have a high nutrient problem. What are your water parameters and what type of water do you use for top-offs and water changes? You should be using RO water as tap water can have a lot of phosphates and nitrates in it that will feed algaes.
