bubbles in the sand bed

I can see bubbles that have formed between the glass and sand. is this N2 or something else. sand bed depth is about 3". Should I let them out?

My guess would be N2. You could poke the sand a bit to let them out. Just make sure not to stir up to much stuff in your sand bed so you don't cause a spike in your levels. Picking up a few narassius snails would help to move the top inch or so of sand bed around occassionally and keep them from building up i would think.

Most likely nitrogen or some component of it. I get them too. No need to let them out... they'll find their own way!
