I am very new to the SW hobby and I was wondering if anybody could tell me the following:

1. What is a calcium reactor?
2. What does a calcium reactor do?
3. Do I need a calcium reactor?
4. How much does a calcium reactor cost?
5. What are the benefits of a calcium reactor?
6. How does a calcium reactor work?
7. How much maintenance does a calcium reactor require?

depends on what you are trying to keep (corals?), how big your tank is, how much $ you are willing to spend etc. Just give us a little more info on your specifics and we'll help you out.

A Calcium reactor is a device that hobbists with a very large calcium load use to help maintain their calcium levels. It basicly speeds up the process of argonite based particles breaking down into calcium faster thru the aid of carbon dioxide in a controled enviorment.

If you dont know you need one then you probably dont. These devices are not something thats need for every tank and would only benifit someone if they where constantly adding calcium to the tank and was looking for a more automatic way of doing so.
