the guy at my lfa said it was really good and worth the extra money, is this true?

Ya it works good but be sure to rinse, and rinse, and rinse it before adding it to your tank. In Indiana it costs pretty much the same amount as any other substrate.

I'm not sure about the "extra" money part but IME it is a good sand to use. It's the one I have used for my tanks. Personally I wouldn't rinse any sand though.
