Clean-up crew

When during the cycling process can you put a clean-up crew in the tank? Do you have to wait until it is complete or is it ok before that? Also, what kind of crew would I need for a 10 gallon tank? Thanks for any help you can give me.

Wait until the cycle is complete since you can kill off the crew while it is still cycling and the fact that there is little for the crew to even clean up till it’s done. A couple of red/blue leg hermits along with a couple of Nassarius snails would be good to start out. After a couple of months you could get a shrimp if you want.
