cleaning live rock

hey ive had my lr for about 6 months now, i used to have my lights on 12 hours a day, and that created tons of hair algea all over the lr and sand. my question is if it will be alright to clean the hair algea off the lr with a tooth brush.

i also reduced the lighting time dramatically

Yes, but I used a plastic bristle scrub brush with better results as it's more aggressive and covers more area. Also a bath type wash brush will work.
