Cleaning sump

Hi so I've got new tank other day and got sump with it and was wondering if have to clean parts of the sump as got stuff on bottom already as only today put sock in place any info will be great thanks

Always good to syphon that debris out. I call it "mulm" and a build up of it can start to affect water quality. It's a bit like compost.

Yeah what was thinking as the main part has a drip tray were rock sits on and bottom bit that goes to return bit got little build up
