Coraline Algae
What are the benefits of coraline algae. I've got plenty of it and spend plenty of time scraping off my powerheads and glass. I've seen plenty of posts on how to grow it but none as to its benefits. Thanks

I would say one reason it's desireable is the fact it gives the tank a "natural" look, and is beautiful IMO. I also beleive it is a nitrifying bacteria, but I'm not 100% sure about that.

It also covers places other undesireable algae would grow if given the chance.

Mainly looks, and like BDAWG said it covers rock where bad algae could grow.
