Coraline Algae.

My tank has been set up for about 5 months and i was wondering how long it takes to get Coraline Algea to strat growing on the tank walls and stuff. I see lots of pictures of tanks with lots of the thick purple algea growing on the rock and glass and i want it in my tank. Is there some trace elemnt i need to add to the tank? I don't put anything in it right now. Do i need to add calcium, or kalkwasser to it? Please let me know. My water perameters are perfect by the way.

PH-8.3
amon-0
nitrate-0
nitrite-o
sal-1.023

My tank has also been set up for 5 months and I have tons of it. Here is what I did; measure and keep calcium levels in check. Ideally about 400. Also I bought some less expensive live rock from my LFS and several pieces (4) with a lot of coraline growth on them. (one was about 75% covered) I also picked different stores to get a variety of different coraline algae. (red, purple, pink etc). I also have stong current to help "seed" the other less covered rocks. Now , I have about 75% coverage on all of the rocks, even my snails!

Get a good ca test kit (sailfert) measure your calcium, and post your levels. Good luck.

I got pretty luck with my tank, I haven't done anything but regular water changes and i am starting to get it growing all over my tank walls. My tank has been running for about 4 months. It actually is getting to be kind of a pain in the @*# cleaning it off the front and one of the sides of the tank. I can't wait till the back ans other side are covered!
