Corals open just some of the time?

I would say it should be the other way around. Your corals should be open most of time and closed some of the time. Leathers close and shed skin called sloughing you should have enough current that it will remove that excess sloughed skin. If you leathers are closed more then their open I would look into water parameters and other outside variables. Do you have anything that picks on them?
