Cracking sounds

I thought i had a mantis shrimp in my tank so i did a carbonated water dip to all the rocks. When i put back in the rocks i started to hear a cracking noise. It sounded kind of like if you break wood. It went on prety constantly for about 5 mins then died down a little then finally stopped. Anyone know wat this is?

Could be a pistol shrimp. They like in the substrate under the rockwork. No worries, they are safe.

I got my rocks from oceanproaquatics.com and had them for a good 3 months. I doubt theres other live creatures on it unless i put it in. I was thinking it may be a mantis cause in 1 week all my fish died with out a trace of thier body. But when i did the carbonated dip i couldnt find anything.

Gonna set a meaty trap for him? There are threads around describing tall shot glass methods with meat at the bottom - among other methods to snag him. What's your plan?
