Turbinaria mesenterina (pagoda coral) Is a shallow water speices. It is a species in this genus that is notably harder to keep then others. They often times show eroding at the margins and develope chronic tissue recession. They are also prone to both black abdn and white band disease. Uf you et one, keep the cups free of detritus and dust it often. Sounds like they are night feder and extend their polyps after lights-out. Have you considered an orange cup coral (Tubastraea faulkneri) instead? They seem a bit less difficult if you are devoted to regular target feedings. Let us know what you decide and good luck...Lando
